Okay, girl. We need to talk.

PUT YOUR PAPER BACK ON THE WALL.

You Don't Think You're All That. But You Better Know You're Something.

This is for the woman who has done the work, earned the thing, survived the hard part, built something she is proud of, and still catches herself making it sound smaller when she tells the story.

Yes, you can be proud of yourself.

You earned it. Put it back on the wall. Humility is not invisibility. You earned it. Put it back on the wall. Humility is not invisibility. You earned it. Put it back on the wall. Humility is not invisibility. You earned it. Put it back on the wall. Humility is not invisibility.

Book list
No noise. Just the good stuff about the book, the launch, and where this conversation goes next.
Sound familiar?

We have got to stop doing this to ourselves.

Some of us got so good at being humble that we started erasing ourselves from our own stories.

01

You did the work.

You earned the degree, landed the job, built the business, wrote the paper, raised the family, survived the season.

02

Then you made it sound small.

“Oh, it was nothing.” “I just got lucky.” “Anybody could have done it.” No, ma'am. Everybody did not do it. You did.

03

Now put it back.

Not because you think you're better than anybody. Because you are finally willing to tell the truth about yourself.

This whole book started with one little paper.
Pull up a chair

Let me tell you why I wrote this.

I remember being in middle school and doing really well on an assignment. My teacher put my paper on the wall. That should have been the whole story. I worked hard. I did well. Somebody noticed.

But another kid made fun of me, and suddenly I was not thinking about the paper anymore. I was thinking about whether being proud of myself had made me a target.

I carried that lesson much longer than I realized. A lot of us did.

“That paper on the wall is not just a memory to me. It's the whole engine of this book.”
A note from Stefanie

Why I wrote this book.

A personal message from Stefanie is coming soon. Until then, read a little of the book below and discover why this conversation matters.

Inside the book

Here. Read some of it.

I don't want to give you three cute quotes and call that a preview. I want you to actually hear the book.

Introduction
“I don't think I'm all that. But I do think I'm something.

Say that second sentence out loud right now, wherever you're reading this. Go ahead. I'll wait. If your voice dropped when you got to it, if you found yourself glancing around to see who was listening, that's exactly who this book is for.”
What the message means
“So let me say plainly what this book is and is not. This is not permission to become arrogant. This is permission to become accurate. You can respect somebody else's gift without lying about your own. You can be grateful and ambitious in the same breath.”
Chapter One
“If I could walk back into that classroom today, I wouldn't waste one word on Kenny. I'd walk straight past him, kneel down next to that girl in the checkered pants, and point. Look at your paper. Not your pants. Not him. Look at what you did.”
What you'll leave with

This book should change the way you talk about yourself.

Not into somebody louder. Into somebody more accurate.

✦You're going to start noticing where you shrink.
✦You're going to stop arguing with compliments.
✦You're going to rethink what humility actually means.
✦You're going to remember some things you forgot you were proud of.
“It was never look at me. It is, I am no longer going to pretend there is nothing to look at.”
Now I have a question for you

What's your paper?

It may be literal paper. It may not. The point is the same. What have you earned, built, finished, survived, learned, or become that you keep making smaller?

Whatever your paper is, put it back on the wall.
Your degree
Your promotion
The business you built
Your certification
Your award
The article
The comeback
The thing you survived
The thing you finally finished
Twenty years of experience
The client win
The life you rebuilt

Meet Stefanie

The woman behind the paper.

Stefanie Magness is a reputation expert, communications strategist, and author. For years, her work has centered on helping people understand the value of what they have built and what they have earned.

Put Your Paper Back on the Wall is where that work gets personal. It is about the lessons that taught us to shrink, the moments that made pride feel dangerous, and what happens when we finally decide to stop apologizing for the evidence.

You can be humble and still have your paper on the wall.
